
SOFITEL IS NOW FAIRMONT COPACABANA!!!
The Sofitel Hotel is located at Post 6 in Copacabana, just close to the Arpoador beach and Ipanema. Initially called the Rio Palace Hotel, it was inaugurated in 1978.
In 2015, the first phase of the Sofitel Copacabana’s renewal project was made, preparing the hotel for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (August 2016).
DDN was hired in March 2016, for the project management of the complete renewal of the property, designated by Phase 2.
Our mission is as follows: carry out the Hotel’s technical diagnosis in operation; Scope Definition; Elaboration of the invitation letters; Management of proposals and customer assistance in hiring designers; Budget implementation and reform planning; coordination of projects; Elaboration and management of the tendering procedure.
The development of the projects follows its course and has its completion scheduled for June 2017, the date on which the demolition and subsequent renewal works of the hotel are initiated, turning the current Sofitel into a new brand of the Accor group universe that is the Canadian Fairmont.
Born in 1907, this hotel chain is distinguished in the luxury market by its glamorous and classical-style hotels. In 1999, Fairmont joined the Canadian Pacific Hotels Group, becoming the leading luxury hotels company, which currently counts with more than 60 hotels in the most exclusive and sought-after destinations in the world. In December 2015, the Fairmont Raffles Hotel International was acquired by Grupo AccorHotels.
The reform program is renovating the 32,635 m2 transforming and giving a new image to the property located in Copacabana and in one of the noblest regions of Rio de Janeiro. With this intervention the Fairmont Copacabana with 400 rooms, Congress Center, new bars and restaurants and with its exclusive VIP restaurant – the Gold Lounge are built.
DDN at the service of its client Accor, based on its knowledge of the Brazilian market, allied to the experience gained over its 20 years of existence and more than 1 million m2 of construction managed, contributed to the strategic decisions of the reform of the hotel, giving the elements and conditions necessary for the detailed technical program definition.
