DDN ON THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR EFANOR COLLEGE INAUGURATION (OPORTO)

On the past September 10th, 2018, Belmiro de Azevedo Foundation started the 2018/2019 school year by opening the doors of their new facilities designed for Junior and Secondary school students. To Pólo I, which exists since the 2008/2009 school year, the foundation added this new Pólo II, thus providing the Efanor Private College with the means to answer to all levels of education from Kindergarten, through Pre-school, Junior and Secondary School.

This new teaching establishment offers an area of about 14,000 m2 of surface, with a gross construction area of close to 10,000 m2, which includes the main building, where is concentrated most of the school activity, a building (remodelled villa) for the administrative area and services, and sports facilities.

In the main building, the 24 classrooms join specific laboratory and music rooms, an auditorium for 320 places, a modern and well equipped resource centre, informal spaces for individual or collaborative work, and ample spaces for circulation, leisure and get-together.

The remodelled villa will contemplate the administrative area, support services, the cafeterias of students and teachers, and a modern kitchen that will produce meals for the two poles of the college.

 

Sports facilities, consisting of an outdoor playground in synthetic turf, a sports pavilion, an Olympic pool and two dance halls, are inserted in an engaging area that includes the access and interconnection circulations to these 3 blocks, as well as beautifully landscaped green spaces and recreational areas.

DDN was selected to perform the inspection service of this project divided into two contracts being the 1st consisting of housing and main building with a deadline of 9 months and the 2nd consisting of sports facilities. Overall the objectives of the Promoter and the owner of the work were achieved, and the inauguration occurred on the date established to start the school year.

 

It is a project of an important foundation, icon of the city of Porto, an innovative educational project, oriented to the quality and excellence of learning, a project of great importance to the society of this city.
