PORTUGUESE ENGINEERING AT THE FOREFRONT OF REHABILITATION

It was developed at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, an innovative solution for structural reinforcement which allows solving the usual disadvantages of regular methods and, at the same time, taking advantage of great features such as ease of application, versatility, excellent performance and economization of the quantity of reinforcement material used.

Easy to Apply: Depends only on the execution of some holes in the strengthening elements and implementation of an agent of glue (epoxy resin) and respective armor.
Versatility: Adapts to different types of structural elements (arches, beams, columns, slabs, foundations, walls, among others — see Figure 1) and is applicable on any structure that needs to increase its resistance.

Excelent performance: In relation to traditional methods, it significantly improves the performance and the flexibility of the reinforced structural element transverse effort, allowing to obtain a considerable increase of the loads applied to the collapse itself.
Economics/Optimization of the amount of reinforcement applied: It allows you to take advantage of the full strength of the reinforcement material, which becomes impossible in the most usual techniques that do not use mechanical devices for fastening/anchoring.
CREatE technique uses metallic reinforcement materials or other pre-made high resistance (carbon fiber, glass, basalt, etc.) in the form of laminates, bars or rods, whose ends are anchored to the structural element through holes previously executed and filled with epoxy resin (figures 2 and 3).
